The new premium grade facility was custom built for them and measures just under 30 000m² of warehouse and office space in Jet Park overlooking the R21 freeway. State of the art features include easy access to the Airport, excellent security in an access-controlled estate, fire protection via rooftop sprinklers fed by pumps and tanks on site, as well as 15.5 m spring heights and FM2 flooring for optimal racking. Additional features include an EDGE Advanced solar PV system resulting in a 40% saving in power and water.
Over the past 20 years Cargo Compass has grown from a small freight forwarding business into one of the largest local independent freight forwarders in the country offering import and export forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, distribution as well as marine insurance with their head office in Johannesburg and branches in Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and East London. The Johannesburg centre previously operated from several warehouse facilities in Meadowdale before the decision to consolidate in Jet Park.
In 2019 in order to facilitate future growth Cargo Compass sought out an investment partner which was later finalized with RMB Ventures and Bopa Maruo, resulting in a 51% black owned buyout of Cargo Compass. Through RMB they also have access to First Rand allowing them the potential to funding for working capital enabling expansion and future growth.
Jet Park is a sought after, well established industrial node located in Boksburg on the East Rand offering occupiers a variety of property choices from mini units to freehold properties and new industrial developments.
The new Cargo Compass facility is located within Equites Park where there are still development opportunities available. The site was acquired by Equites Property Fund who saw potential in the site because of its strategic location and the lack of available land within the area. The site was previously occupied by Aveng LTA. There are 6 proposed warehouse developments planned for the park, with 5 now available. Sizes range from 6 800 m² to 15 500 m² although joint units potentially allow for larger developments.
Units are available to let as tenant driven developments to qualified clients, contact us today for more info or to discuss your new development requirements.
